Super Mario Bros. was released in Japan 25 years ago, propelling Mario into fame. The Italian plumber has become one of the most iconic characters, strongly associated with all things Nintendo.
In honor of the Super Mario Bros.' 25th anniversary, Nintendo has released this video showing the timeline of major Mario games, although it leaves out less plot-driven games such as Mario Kart and Mario Party. The Guardian also has 25 Mario facts in honor of our mustachioed friend. And Mashable created this great timeline (below the video) of how Mario's appearance has changed over the years.
And for the record, Super Mario 3 is still one of our all-time favorite games!
