RIP Gary Coleman

Gary Coleman passed away today, after suffering a serious injury from a fall landing on his head. He is best known as Arnold Jackson from Diff'rent Strokes, and for his catchphrase "Whatchu talkin bout Willis?"

Video: Twilight Eclipse TV Trailer

Here is the new trailer for Eclipse. While the first trailer was more for the Twi-hards who know the story well, this one is enticing enough for anyone. Who doesn't love a serious vampire vs wolf fight?

Enjoy, and have a great Memorial Day!

American Idol Recap

The season finale for American Idol was last night, and Lee DeWyze was crowned the winner.

The show featured several segments in tribute to Simon Cowell. They also brought many of the winners and runners-up, a great nod to Simon's reign on Idol.

Crystal Bowersox performed with Alanis Morissette. (Side note: "Would she go down with you to the theater" Really? That's the replacement lyrics they chose? Really??) DeWyze performed with Chicago, and several other former contestants also gave performances with famous musicians. One of the most memorable performances was Bret Michaels and Casey Jones James singing Every Rose Has Its Thorn. The Poison frontman has had a slew of serious health problems of late, including a brain hemorrhage and a "warning stroke", so it was great to see him happy and on stage.

Video: 'The Last Exorcism' Trailer

This trailer for The Last Exorcism is definitely intriguing. The film is shot in the pseudo-documentary style like The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. Because it is produced by Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel), the movie should prove to be sufficiently creepy and frightening.

The story follows Marcus Cotton, a priest who performs exorcisms but does not believe in them. He is performing one last exorcism, and agrees to let a documentary crew film it. And of course, things don't go quite as planned.

The film looks like it has some terrifying features, but will it stand up to the rubric of The Exorcist? The Last Exorcism hits theaters August 27, 2010.

Miss '24' Already? Here Comes the Movie

We're in the middle of finales and season enders on TV (still mulling over Lost, anyone?), and last night the 8th and final season of 24 came to a close. Jack Bauer may have had eight of the longest days of his life, but he's not done yet, and this time it will be on the big screen.

Scribe Billy Ray is developing a script for 24 the movie, and of course Kiefer Sutherland is returning as our hero, now on the run. The story will pick up in the aftermath of Day 8, but beyond that the plot details are unclear.

Megan Fox Dropped From 'Transformers 3'

Megan Fox will not be appearing in Transformers 3. Paramount decided not to pick up her option for the third movie, and that it was "ultimately" directory Michael Bay's decision. Her official PR statement goes along the lines of "it was her decision" to leave, and "she wishes the franchise the best." Right.

So this has nothing to do with the public back and forth she had with Michael Bay? Fox, while promoting Jennifer's Body in Wonderland magazine, said of Bay: "He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for." Three of Bay's Transformer crew member responded on his website with a long open letter that basically called her unprofessional, and rebutted her criticisms of Bay. Bay himself responded by saying he doesn't condone the crew letter or Megan's quotes.

What's said was said, and now Bay and writer Ehren Kruger are finishing up the new script which will replace Fox's Mikaela Banes character and introduce a new love interest for Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky.

But who will win all the big awards now? And more importantly, who will replace her? (Please don't say Betty White.)

'Abduction' To Star Taylor Lautner and Alfred Molina

Alfred Molina and heartthrob Taylor Lautner are set to star in Abduction, directed by John Singleton and written by Shawn Christensen.

Lautner's character discovers himself on a missing person's website, the digital age equivalent of finding your picture on the back of a milk carton. Molina will play the CIA agent working on the case.

Taylor Lautner is of course best known for playing Jacob in the Twilight saga. Alfred Molina played Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2, and will be seen in The Prince of Persia.

David Fincher to Direct '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea'

David Fincher is in negotiations with Disney to direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Bourne Ultimatum screenwriter Scott Z. Burns is set to write the script. This new 20,000 Leagues is going to be a modern update of the 1954 Kirk Douglas version, and would be based, of course, on the classic story by Jules Verne, first published in 1869.

Originally Disney was working with McG to direct the film, but they scrapped the whole project when they weren't happy with the direction the movie was taking. Fincher is a filmmaker best known for movies such as Se7en, The Game, Fight Club, Zodiac, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This new take on Captain Nemo is being described as in the vein of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, and aims to be "visually dazzling".

One noteworthy item: Disney ditched the McG version in part because it was "too dark", yet they choose to go with the often dark Fincher. It should be interesting to see how this project develops.

Exclusive: Shepard Fairey Art in Iron Man 2

We just got an exclusive version of the artistic rendition of Iron Man, as seen in Iron Man 2.

It is stylized after Shepard Fairey's iconic Obama HOPE poster. Fairey did not design the Iron Man image in the movie, nor was he paid for it. He did, however, give his verbal approval of the piece appearing in the film, and said "All of the Obama HOPE spoofs, positive or negative, are a reminder of the power and importance of grassroots activism to affect things."

Iron Man 2 came out in theaters last Friday, and was the box office leader this week, receiving generally favorable reviews.

Evangeline Lilly and Anthony Mackie Join Robot Boxing Film 'Real Steel'

Lost star Evangeline Lilly and Hurt Locker star Anthony Mackie both join the cast of Real Steele. Real Steele already stars Hugh Jackman and is directed by Shawn Levy.

Jackman plays an ex-fighter in the near future, when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent. He starts promoting the new fights, which feature 2,000 lb. robots with human qualities.

Robot boxing? Moreover, robot boxing plus a Rocky-esque underdog element... I'm officially intrigued!

U.S. Soldiers Remake Lady Gaga's 'Telephone'

Sure, everyone with a webcam has made a version of Lady Gaga's 'Telephone'. But we were still very impressed by this one, made by U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. And considering how this video has been making the rounds, we don't think we are the only ones.
