Sony Pictures has just released this trailer for their reboot of Karate Kid, directed by Harold Zwart. This remake is set in Beijing, and stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. There is a respectful nod to the 1984 original, but we still have a few lingering doubts about this movie living up to the iconic film from our childhood. Nevertheless, the trailer is interesting, and shows promise for the film, due out in theaters June 11, 2010.
Two other items of note: in real life, it might not be best for a young outsider to so readily accept guidance from the janitor with the creepy mustache. Also, there is no karate in this Karate Kid, just a whole lot of kung fu.
