What a night it was for The Hurt Locker! The film won Best Picture and Best Director, along with four other Oscars. Director Kathryn Bigelow was the first female director to win in the Directing category. A lesser known fact was that The Hurt Locker was the lowest-grossing Best Picture award winner.
Other highlights from the evening included Ben Stiller dressed as a character from Avatar. (Some would argue that Avatar getting shut out of the Oscars was another highlight, only winning Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects.) The tribute to John Hughes and his movies was great (video at the bottom). There was also a decent horror film montage.
