'Superman' Rumor Mill

There have been a lot of rumors flying around about the upcoming Superman reboot. Directed by Zack Snyder, produced by Christopher Nolan, and written by David Goyer, they are now trying to find the right cast.

British actor Matthew Goode is one name being discussed for the Man of Steel. He previously worked with Snyder in Watchmen, where Goode played Ozymandias. As for Lois Lane, Anne Hathaway is a possibility.

More 'Dark Knight Rises' News: Short List for Two Female Leads

Now that he finalized the title for the next Batman film, director Christopher Nolan is trying to cast the two female leads for The Dark Knight Rises. One would be the love interest for Bruce Wayne, and the other will be a villain.

Making the short list of actresses in consideration are: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley. We think any of these ladies would be a great addition to the growing cast. And perhaps the multiple female leads will help dispel notions that Nolan has issues with women.

The Dark Knight Rises will hit theaters July 20, 2012, and shooting will start in April of next year.

'Batman 3' Will Be Titled 'The Dark Knight Rises' and Won't Feature The Riddler

Director Christopher Nolan has announced the title for his third Batman film: The Dark Knight Rises. We personally like the title, particularly that it hints at a glimmer of hope.

Also offering hope is the fact that Nolan says he convinced Warner Bros. to resist the popular 3-D craze for this film, and they are instead going to use IMAX cameras.

Nolan squashed earlier rumors that the Riddler would be the latest villain terrorizing Gotham City. Also off the villain list is Harvey Dent (no supernatural comebacks here) and Mr. Freeze.

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman are all expected to reprise their roles in the third Batman installment, and Inception star Tom Hardy will be joining the cast. The DarkKnight Rises is set to begin filming next April in New Orleans, and Nolan hopes for a July 2012 release date.

Zack Snyder to Direct New 'Superman' Movie, Bringing Back General Zod

Zack Snyder is officially the new director of Superman reboot Superman: The Man of Steel. Producer Christopher Nolan was meeting with possible directors last week, and announced his decision today. Snyder (300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians, Sucker Punch) will team up with Nolan and writer David Goyer.

There are also rumors swirling that General Zod is at the center of this project. The villain Zod appeared in Superman: The Movie and Superman II as played by actor Terence Stamp.

Snyder and company hope to release Superman in the 2012 holiday timeframe.

Rumor Mill: Riddler in 'Batman 3', Possibly Played by Inception Star

We love a good rumor. Ahead of the official start of Comic-Con, First Showing announced that The Riddler will be a character in Christopher Nolan's Batman 3. Even better, the name swirling around the most for the role is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Gordon-Levitt is one of the stars in the current Christopher Nolan flick Inception, which: go see, seriously. He was also in (500) Days of Summer and was on 3rd Rock From the Sun.

Here's what we know: Christopher Nolan likes working with actors he has worked with in the past. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt has worked with Nolan (and did a great job), and they seem to have a good working relationship. Gordon-Levitt's status about the role is listed as "interested". Nolan has admitted he won't recast the iconic Joker, brilliantly played by the late Heath Ledger. With the need for a new villain, the Riddler seems like a good bed.

All this adds up to a juicy rumor, but one that would make me very happy if were confirmed.

Christopher Nolan to Oversee New 'Superman' Movie

Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight, has a new superhero movie project in the works: Superman. It is unlikely Nolan will be directing this new movie. Instead he has been chosen by Warner Bros. to act as a "godfather" to the film, performing more as a mentor to help the project get off the ground. This movie will be another reboot of the Superman universe, after a poor reception of the previous relaunch, Superman Returns.

Christopher Nolan is also working on a script for Batman 3 with David Goyer and brother Jonah Nolan. There is no production or release date yet for this latest film in the Batman series, which is set to be a sequel to The Dark Knight.
