If you plan on watching Machete for the action packed violence, this is the trailer for you. This red band (i.e. age restricted) clip shows a compilation of just some of the gore that the film has to offer.

Machete is the new Robert Rodriguez film that is an expansion of the fake trailer released with Rodriguez' and Quentin Tarantino's 2007 movie Grindhouse. In a similar B movie and exploitation style as Grindhouse, it stars Danny Trejo as the title character. The film also stars Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Jessica Alba, and Robert De Niro. Machete hits theaters starting Friday, September 3.

Video: Sophia Coppola's New Film 'Somewhere'

Sophia Coppola's new film Somewhere has released the first video clip for the movie, which stars Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning (Dakota Fanning's younger sister). The clip shows an awkward interaction between Dorff and his film-within-a-film co-star Michelle Monaghan.

The film stars Dorff as the Hollywood bad boy Johnny Marco, who receives an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter Cleo, played by Fanning. Their meeting causes him to examine and change his lifestyle.

This is Sophia Coppola's newest film, after other great movies including The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation. Some scenes from the film are said to be inspired by Coppola's own childhood experiences with her father, the great filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. While this video is a clip from the movie, not a teaser or a trailer, it still leaves us intrigued for more. The film is set to be released on December 22, 2010.

RIP Satoshi Kon, Director of 'Paprika'

Satoshi Kon, the renowned Japanese anime director, passed away at the age of 46. He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kon was well known for his artistic animated films, including Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika. Paprika was probably his most-viewed film, and was also a significant influence on Christopher Nolan's Inception.

Fans of anime will miss Satoshi Kon and his influence, and our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

David Slade Directing 'Wolverine 2'?

David Slade is in contention to direct the next Wolverine movie. This rumor comes as he enjoys the success of his current summer hit, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. He also handled some supernatural action in 30 Days of Night in addition to the vampires and werewolves of Eclipse.

Slade is up against Robert Schwentke to direct the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Schwentke directed The Time Traveler's Wife, and the new action movie RED.

We think Slade will be the one picked to direct, as he already has action and CGI experience. And werewolves and vampires are kind of like mutants, right? Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine, and they should be starting filming in January 2011.

Google Doodle Celebrates 71st Anniversary of 'Wizard of Oz'

Today marks the 71st anniversary of the classic film The Wizard of Oz. And to celebrate, Google made a Google doodle in the movie's honor. While the film had its big Hollywood premiere on August 15, 1939, it actually debuted on Aug. 12 in one theater in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

In honor of the Google doodle, Guardian UK (H/T MTV Movies Blog) has a list of 71 facts about the film. Here are some of the highlights:

3) Judy Garland's white dress was actually pink as it was easier to shoot in Technicolor.

27) Judy Garland won an Oscar Juvenile Award in 1939 for her role; a gong she would later refer to as the Munchkin award.

31) The fire that engulfs the Witch's hands as she's trying to remove the ruby slippers is actually apple juice spewing out of the shoes – the film was then sped up to make it look more like fire.

37) The head winged monkey is called Nikko – also the name of the Japanese town home to the shrine featuring the Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil monkeys.

55) When George Cukor started as the director, Garland wore a blond wig and heavy, "baby-doll" makeup. Cukor changed Judy Garland's and Margaret Hamilton's makeup and costumes and instructed Garland to act more naturally, necessitating wholescale reshoots.

Also from the list: four lines from the movie made Premiere magazine's 100 Greatest Movie Lines: "There's no place like home" (No 11), "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" (No 24), "Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" (No 62), and "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!" (No 99).

The visually striking film starred Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, and Jack Haley, and was based on the children's novel by L. Frank Baum. The Wizard of Oz was nominated for several Academy Awards in 1939, including Best Picture, but lost in that category to Gone with the Wind. The film did, however, win Best Song for Over the Rainbow.

On a more serious note, we here at Poster Revolution lost a great man today. Double H, you will be missed.

Video: Another Friday, Another Retro Video

Stop motion seems to be all the rage, from awesome YouTube videos to whimsical Kindle ads. This video, directed by comic genius Ernie Kovacs (Monty Python's Flying Circus, among other credits), was way ahead of its time. It features office equipment moving in time to the fantastic score by Esquivel. And because it was made in 1961, we know none of it was computer generated. Hooray for more videos that remind us of Mad Men. Also, who's with us in wanting to bring back rotary phones?

Rumors Swirl About Justin Bieber Biopic

A few days ago, rumors were flying that Justin Bieber was getting a 3-D concert movie/biopic, directed by Davis Guggenheim of An Inconvenient Truth. Oh, the jokes to be had. Unfortunately, those rumors were not true. While Bieber still plans to make the film, Guggenheim will not be directing.

The director, who was never attached to the project, officially declined. Instead he is working on promoting his upcoming Waiting of Superman, a documentary about failures in the American public educational system. Sounds like more important work than cutting together a bunch of "Oh baby, baby" clips together.

So Bieber, along with Paramount and its MTV Films division, are still searching for someone to run the project. It will now either be two co-directors or one director and a strong producing team. They still plan to release the film on Valentine's Day weekend of next year.

And in the mean time there's always this trailer.

'X-Men: First Class' Changing Because of 'Inception'

They say great minds think alike. That may be the case, but director Matthew Vaughn doesn't want people to mistake "thinks alike" with "copies popular ideas". The director of the upcoming X-Men: First Class is changing a scene in the movie after viewing Christopher Nolan's Inception.

Vaughn told the L.A. Times: "I saw Inception, which I loved, but my heart sank when I saw that a few of the ideas we had were up [on the screen]. So it's either leave it in and look as if you're copying or change things. We completely ripped out about 12 pages of the script and storyboards." The sequence in question involved fight scenes in rotating rooms, and Professor X and other mutants battling in a dream-space.

X-Men: First Class and its modified, not-at-all-like-Inception scenes are set to open June 3, 2011. It stars James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Caleb Landry Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Alice Eve, and Edi Gathegi.

Video: Guillermo del Toro's 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' Teaser Trailer

This teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro's loose remake of the 1973 made-for-TV movie by the same name, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, recently aired at Comic-Con. Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) wrote the script, while comic book artist Troy Nixey is directing.

The story follows a young girl (played by Bailee Madison) who discovers creatures that had been living in the basement of the house her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) are renovating. Originally the girl believes the creatures to be friendly, but she soon learns otherwise.

All this lends itself to a pretty creepy trailer, which hopefully bodes well for the rest of the movie, due out January 21, 2011.

Inception Mash-Up Trailers

Inception has led at the box office for the past three weeks. Combine that with an epic trailer, and you get an outpouring of mash-up trailers. Here are some of our favorites.

Up

We love this one. The editing is great, the dialogue syncs up, and it just works. Well done.

Empire Strikes Back

This is another good one. The dialgue matches up pretty well (C3PO helps with the syncing of difficult dialogue too). The snow scenes are also reminiscent of the actual Inception movie.

Toy Story 3

Here is another Pixar movie that works well as a mash-up. Some of the scenes sync up quite well, but the overall editing and visuals aren't quite as good as Up or some of the other mash-ups. It is still well done, and one of the most viewed.

Matrix

What better mash-up than another movie that makes you question reality? Who cares if some of the dialogue doesn't match up, because the action works so well with the epic soundtrack.

The Dark Knight

Ah, a Christopher Nolan vs. Christopher Nolan mash-up! Two of the best parts of this video: Leonardo Dicaprio's voice over Heath Ledger as the Joker, and the Michael Caine syncing from both movies. Now if only we knew if Joseph Gordon-Levitt will actually play the Riddler or not.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

And for our absolute favorite: Bill and Ted's Excellent Inception! This one inserts dialogue from Bill and Ted as well. Nothing like Keanu Reeves (and Alex Winter) looking confused over and over again. All we can say to this one is "Whoa!"
