Happy National Lady Gaga Day!

TGIF, but more importantly, Happy National Lady Gaga Day! Over 100,000 people (and counting) on Facebook have dubbed today National Lady Gaga Day. Although it's not entirely clear what one does to celebrate such a day, but we imagine it involves some funky costumes, and maybe a Christopher Walken impression.

So on that note, we leave you to a weekend of dancing. And Lady Gaga broken down into math equations. You can thank us tomorrow when this song is still in your head.

The Gaga Law: (RAH)² (AH)³ + RO (MA + MAMA) + (GA)² + OOH(LA)² = Bad Romance

Grammy Awards Preview

Beyonce, up for 10 Grammy nominations.

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday night. It should prove to be a star-studded evening. Highlights will include Neil Young, who will be honored as the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year. There will be a tribute to Michael Jackson, including a 3D mini movie and a Lifetime Achievement Award. Also receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award will be Leonard Cohen, Bobby Darin, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Loretta Lynn, Andre Previn, and Clark Terry.

And then, of course, are the awards themselves. Beyoncé leads the nominees with ten nominations. Other top nominees include Taylor Swift with eight and Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell, Kanye West with six nominations, and David Guetta, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga with five nominations. Colbie Caillat, Kings of Leon, Bruce Springsteen, T-Pain, and Keith Urban each received four nominations.

There is a long list of performers, ranging from Bon Jovi to Eminem, Elton John to Slash. An equally impressive list of presenters has been confirmed, including Robert Downey Jr., Stephen Colbert, the Jonas Brothers, and Quentin Tarantino.

The real question remains: what crazy stunt will Kanye West try to pull off this time?

Zac Efron to Star in 'Back to the Future'-Like Movie

Zac Efron is looking to move beyond his High School Musical fame. He has already begun branching out with more serious roles, appearing in movies such as Me and Orson Welles, 17 Again, and the upcoming The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. Further down the road is a still-untitled film that is being billed as Back to the Future-like. We're picturing singing and dancing at 88 MPH.

ABC Cancels 'Ugly Betty'

Ugly Betty was canceled this week, much to the dismay of the show's fans. ABC said the cancellation was due to dismal ratings. The number of episodes in this final season was cut from 22 to 22. However, enough time remains for the writers to construct a clever and tidy ending. Here's hoping we see more of lead actress America Ferrera.

Yet Another Vampire Movie in the Works

Just in case you didn't get quite enough vampire action last year, yet another vampire movie is in the planning stages. The latest film on the blood-sucking bandwagon is Dracula Year Zero. In talks for the lead role, Dracula himself, is Sam Worthington, from Terminator Salvation and James Cameron's Avatar. It's probably an easy stretch to go from a blue character to an undead one.

This movie should fit right in with rash of other recent films and TV shows about vampires: Twilight, New Moon, True Blood, Vampire Diaries. Did we miss any?

Michael Jackson: This Is It Comes Out on DVD Today

Michael Jackson's This Is It, the concert film that documents Michael Jackson's rehearsals for the tour of the same name, has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray today. Although only released for a limited theatrical engagement last year, the film is the highest grossing concert movie and documentary.

This Is It is comprised of auditions, rehearsals, and other behind the scenes footage of the planning and preparation behind what would have been the King of Pop's historic 50-concert tour. Instead, this movie serves as one last reminder of his range of talents.

Mass Effect 2 Realeased Today

Mass Effect 2, the epic sequel to the popular RPG video game Mass Effect, was released today. This game continues the story of Commander Shepard, as he and the other characters fight to save all sentient life and further humanity's progress onto the galactic stage. It has been getting a lot of good buzz, and BioWare worked hard to make sure this XBox 360 and PC game improved on a number of the criticisms from the first game. If you played the first game to the end, and still have your saved data, you can import your character and decisions into the new game.

Who Dat? Saints and Colts in Superbowl

Wow, what a great day of football watching enjoyment! After two great games that any sports fan could enjoy, the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts are headed to Miami and Super Bowl XLIV.

In the AFC Championship Game, the New York Jets took on the Indianapolis Colts. The Jets had a strong first half and were leading 17-13 at half time. However, in the second half Peyton Manning led the Colts to victory as they scored 17 unanswered points.

The NFC Championship Game could also be known as the Turnover Bowl. Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings took on the New Orleans Saints. It was an exciting game as Favre and Brees matched touchdowns. To add to the excitement were the nine fumbles (six by the Vikings) and two interceptions. The second interception was Favre's biggest mistake in the game, which occurred in the final minute of regular play, and sent the game into overtime. Touchdown after touchdown, a slew of turnovers, and a 40-yard field goal to win the game in OT... what's not to love?

The Saints and Colts are on their way to the Super Bowl and will meet in Miami on February 7. Get ready for two weeks of trash talk, game analysis, and hype.

NFL Playoffs Preview

The NFL playoffs culminate in some great match ups this Sunday.

The AFC championship features the underdog New York Jets playing against the highly touted Indianapolis Colts. The Jets and coach Rex Ryan have been making some confident statements this week. The question for this match-up is will Peyton Manning be able to lead his team past the Jet's D? We say yes.

The NFC championship should prove to be a very exciting match-up. With the Minnesota Vikings taking on the New Orleans Saints, you have Brett Favre vs. Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson vs. Reggie Bush, Marques Colston vs Sidney Rice. It should be a thrilling offensive game, and we think the Saints will edge out Favre and the Vikings.

The games on Sunday, January 24:
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts (3:00pm ET)
Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints (6:40pm ET)

Our picks: Colts and Saints.

Who Will Be Bilbo in The Hobbit?

Despite rumors to the contrary, director Guillermo del Toro and producer Peter Jackson say they are still a month or two away from casting who will play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. The main casting rumor emerged about a month ago, claiming Tobey Maguire was a definite for the role. Jackson and del Toro have both denied this rumor, while stating that they are fans of Maguire.

However, now that Tobey is no longer doing Spider-Man 4, does that make him a likely candidate for the finder of One Ring? Personally, our money is on no, because he's not quite the right fit for the role. Of all the Lord of the Rings characters, we most hope they bring back Ian McKellen as Gandalf (which has been rumored).

NFL Playoffs Recap

What an exciting weekend of playoff football. Ok fine, three of the games were complete blowouts. But it's always fun to see Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre make some amazing plays, and the Jets upset over the Chargers was exciting until the end.

Oh yeah, and our Department of Great Predictions really needs to spend more time in Vegas. That would be 4 for 4 on correct predictions... lets see if we can maintain our 100% accuracy through next week!

The final scores:

Did Avatar Kill Off Spider-Man 4?

Some people are speculating that Avatar contributed to the downfall of the latest Spider-Man movie, which was due out May 5, 2011. How did these blue creatures from Pandora lead to the demise of Peter Parker?

According to Vulture, after director Sam Raimi watched the visually stunning Avatar, he wanted to incorporate all kinds of cutting-edge technology and CGI into Spider-Man 4. However, these special effects would push back the release date, something Sony Pictures wasn't willing to accommodate.

So now both Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are out, and a franchise reboot is expected for 2012.

As for more immediate movies, The Book of Eli and The Lovely Bones both come out today, as well as some cheesy Jackie Chan movie.

Ready for More NFL Playoff Action?

The NFL playoffs continue this weekend, with some thrilling divisional round matchups. Let's just hope even one of the games comes close to the excitement level of last week's Green Bay - Arizona game.

The games this weekend are:

Our picks: Colts, Jets, Saints, Vikings. It would be nice to see Old Man Favre win one more ring.

New A-Team Trailer

The new A-Team trailer was released recently, and it looks good. Normally I am dubious of remakes, but this one looks like it has a lot of potential. The story follows the adventure of four Iraq War veterans who were arrested for a crime they did not commit. After managing to escape from military prison, the four join forces as a soldier-for-hire special missions team.

The movie, based on the TV series, is scheduled to come out June 11, 2010. It is directed by Joe Carnahan and produced by Ridley and Tony Scott. The film stars Liam Neeson (Taken), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Sharlto Copley (District 9), and Jessica Biel.

Lost: Michael and Libby Returning for Season Six

A panel of Lost crew and cast members revealed today that Cynthia Watros (Hurley love interest Libby) and Harold Perrineau (Michael Dawson) will be returning for season six.

I can't wait for this last Lost season. Here's hoping they don't end with some major cop-out like waking up from a dream.

Everyone Loves to Talk About Avatar

Everyone seems to be chiming in on Avatar these days. James Cameron's movie continues to break all kinds of box office records, and has grossed over $431M in the four weeks its been out. And critics and audiences are generally receptive to the film.

However, there has also been a lot of criticism floating around out there. This includes plot similarities to other movies (Pocahontas, Dances with Wolves, The Last Samurai, Fern Gully - my favorite alternate title is Last of the Bluehicans), accusations of racism in the movie, and news of viewers becoming depressed after watching the film (really, guys?).

Personally, I loved the visuals the movie had to offer (3D IMAX is definitely the way to watch this), but thought the dialog was fairly predictable.
